This month’s meet the Harrier is Sue “The Coach ” Crabtree as she is
affectionately known to many of us in the Harriers, Sue is one of the
experienced runners in the club and is a fountain of knowledge with
her favourite word “fartlek” being used a lot every club night.
Sue always strives to produce her best when it matters in big races
and over the last year has won first lady for Crossgates Harriers in
her age category in a number of races.

How long have you been running with the club?  : Two and half years

What made you start running? :Initially because it was the only
exercise I could do when the kids were young – you can go for a run
any time of day which suited me. Second time – cos I was getting fat!

Biggest running achievement so far?  Probably coming back to a decent
level after seven years out due to injury.
Joining a rather fabulous club in the Harriers. In terms of results –
70 minutes for a 10 mile race just before getting injured – felt like
I was really getting somewhere then….

Favourite race ?You know the answer to that!! Brass Monkey 1/2. Or
Manchester, I loved Manchester

Any running tips which have helped you?  Every run should have a
purpose, even if that purpose is to run easy and recover. You don’t
always have to run fast to run fast..running easy on the easy days
leaves you fresher for any speed work you do. I could go on….and
on….

Best thing about being part of Crossgates Harriers?  That’s simple.
They are my second family
