The 2nd meet a Harrier is with a new runner to our club Lisa Hessey she has not been running with the club long but has embraced the Harriers spirit.
Lisa can be found most weekends scouring the local running community for a race and signing up, at the last count her running diary was booked up to 2020
How long have you been running with the club?
Since August 2018.
What made you start running ?
My friend asked me to run the Race for Life 10k in July and she’s a good runner so I knew I had to train. I started to go out for 30 minutes twice a week but couldn’t even run more the 15 minutes at a time.
Biggest running achievement so far?
Vale of York Half Marathon because I literally turned up on the morning of the race and signed up. I ran the whole thing and really surprised myself. It was the furthest I’d ever run.
Yorkshire 10 miles because the atmosphere was amazing and my family were at the finish line! It was also the first race I’d run on my own!
Any running tips which have helped you ?
Eat porridge 2 hours before a long race and relax your arms when you run! Only little things but they’ve really helped!
Finally best thing about being part of Crossgates Harriers?
The support. Everyone wants everyone to do their best and no matter the distance or time all Harriers want to celebrate it with you! I have made some fantastic friends through the club.
