This month is a lady started off on our beginners course way back in 2016 and who has made fantastic progress from 10ks up to half marathons, with maybe a marathon on the horizon. Her Knitters runs are very popular on Sunday morning (no wool and needles are provided). She is a fantastic team member its Claire Maltas.

How long you been running with the club?

I have been with the running club since I joined the beginners group in May 2016.

What made you start running?

I started running because a friend asked me to join beginners group with her.

Biggest Running Achievement?

I feel I have achieved lots since joining the running club. For me though two of my biggest running achievements have to be Endure 24 and conquering the fear of running the Leeds Half Marathon.

Favourite race?

I have lots of races I’ve enjoyed. Half Marathon: Leeds Half, 10 miles: Patley Bridge Pie and a pint and 10k: Dewsbury.

Any Running tips?

The only tips I can give is to enjoy each run, run your own race, listen to your body and don’t be to critical of yourself.

Best part of being a Harrier?

The best thing for me about being part of the Harriers is the support you receive from other members, whether your running a 5k or a marathon. We always have the loudest cheers from other Harriers at events. I’ve also enjoyed supporting the beginners group last year, and giving support to others that was given to me. Best of all is meeting all the lovely Harriers and the friendships I have made.
